There's a lot of blaming Lewy for his attitude or comments (on- or off-pitch) or Carlo for his tactics and player management as to blame for the club's current struggles and the return of FC Hollywood.
But it seems the issues go more to Kalle/Uli and their relationship. With Uli away FC Hollywood seemed to be a thing of the past. Since Uli came back:Not in anyway to diminish all they've done for the club over many, many years, but unless Kalle and Uli can find a way to work together again (with each other and with their sporting director, technical director, coach, players, etc.) maybe at least one of them will need to bow out of day-to-day operations in order to resolve the current issues at the club.
- Sammer decided after his health scare that he didn't want to be around the club anymore (he's said it wasn't for medical reasons, just that he got perspective during his leave)
- They first couldn't convince Lahm to play one more season, then couldn't convince him to take the sporting director job (seemingly because he didn't want to work with Kalle/Uli over him and didn't think they were ready to hand over real power)
- They couldn't get Eberl to take the sporting director job either (probably similar reasons), and when they finally found someone in Brazzo, it came out that he was supposed to be a buffer between Kalle and Uli as much as between the players and Carlo
- Reschke left for a lateral-at-best move to Stuttgart (sporting director title there is basically the same job as technical director here, he's heading up scouting and recruitment in either role)
- Lewy speaking out may be more-or-less par for the course (although he seemed a pretty good soldier in Dortmund even while running down his contract) but Muller going public with criticism isn't; there are clearly frictions throughout the lockerroom
- Kalle and Uli giving contradictory rival press conferences in response certainly doesn't help matters (or perceptions)
